Project Story: Addressing Elevation Challenges
We recently completed an interlock project for a multi-unit house in Orleans that presented a significant design challenge. The property had a steep elevation difference between the garage and the front entrance, requiring a 13-step staircase that felt disconnected and took up valuable parking space. Our goal was to enhance both functionality and aesthetics while ensuring the best use of space.
Challenges Faced
- Awkward Approach: The existing staircase layout made the entrance feel impractical.
- Parking Limitations: The placement of the steps reduced the available parking in front of the garage.
- Disconnected Design: The straight staircase lacked flow and visual appeal.

Our TRU® Solution
After carefully assessing the site, we devised a creative approach to solve these issues:
✅ Relocating the Staircase: Instead of keeping the steps directly in front of the entrance, we moved them to the right side of the house.
✅ Maximizing Parking: This adjustment freed up two additional parking spaces, a huge benefit for this multi-unit property.
✅ Improving Accessibility: The new longer landings made the climb more comfortable and user-friendly.
✅ Enhanced Visual Appeal: We incorporated LED lighting along the stairs for both safety and aesthetics, adding a modern touch.
The result? A functional and visually appealing entrance that optimizes parking space while providing a safer, more welcoming approach to the home.
Step-by-Step Process
1. Site Assessment & Planning
Our team evaluated the elevation challenge and designed a solution to optimize the space without compromising accessibility.
2. Excavation & Base Preparation
We cleared the old staircase, prepped the new layout, and reinforced the base to ensure stability and durability.
3. Staircase & Interlock Installation
Using high-quality interlock materials, we built a functional and stylish staircase with extended landings and LED lighting.
4. Finishing Touches & Quality Check
Final adjustments were made, LED lights were installed, and we conducted a thorough quality check to ensure everything met our high standards.
Client Satisfaction & Final Results
By reconfiguring the entrance, we created a more practical and visually appealing design, while also meeting the client’s parking needs. The newly installed LED-lit staircase not only improves accessibility but also adds a modern aesthetic to the property. Another successful transformation by TRU Interlock Plus!
